Building
Paintball can teach and help individuals in many
aspects about life, character building being one as it encourages problem solving
and decision making. The
games played demand thought to win, the whole team must work together otherwise
they will loose. Plans must be made on the spot, calculated risks taken, guessing
what the enemy will do.... As
kids and especially teenagers know everything, paintball will show them their
personal limitations and will force them to work within that circle otherwise
they will soon get eliminated from the game. We all know that computer games do
teach hand and eye coordination however, what it does not teach is social interaction,
leadership, coordination, and teamwork in the real world. Paintball can certainly
get people to communicate, help to remove chips and attitude problems as their
own ability will be shown to be much less that they believed. One
of the best examples how paintball and other activities we offer can help is when
we had a number of kids from a local institution, all arrived with bad attitudes.
We believed that the day was going to be a nightmare, and was rather hoping that
the day would end very quickly - it was a tournament with six games to be played,
it was going to be a long day.
Once we got them all out we explained the
first game to them very quickly, and got them playing. Once the game had finished
we noticed a massive change... What a complete and immediate transformation...
They were all talking and engaging with each other, they were laughing and all
were eager to get back out and shoot each other in the next game! There
was only one who went back with the chip on her shoulder - all the others had
had them removed! This
was a great day, and we were all on a high - the kids loved it, they were happy,
not fighting and not arguing but buzzing with adrenaline. One of the kids that
had given us major grief at the beginning of the day even came up to us and apologised!
This is one of the best paintball days that we have ever had. Paintball
is a great sport that not only is fun to play but can help in getting people to
work together to a productive end. Teamwork, character building, leadership will
be shown by all and with a few really shining out during the course of the days
play. If
