Your
Event - Paintball
Paintball is one of the fastest growing
pastimes in Europe, many people first experiencing their first taste of playing
at a stag or hen party, company, birthday party or even just a group of friends
getting together for a day out. Many people get the bug and return on a regular
basis - it's a sport that certainly gets your adrenaline pumping! Paintball
at Sudden Impact is played using semi-automatic markers (that's what we call the
guns) which means that to fire all you have to do is pull the trigger. The markers
look similar to guns but are quite obviously not real as they have a gas bottle
on the back and a big plastic thing sticking out of the top, which we call the
hopper, and holds your paintballs. Each hopper can hold up to 200 paintballs,
and the marker fires the paintball at approximately 300f/s (for site use we turn
them slightly down to 250f/s) via compressed CO2 gas. Arrival When
you arrive at our site we let you chill for about fifteen minutes and have a brew,
which is free. Then we get you changed into our super NBC camo suits which give
you lots more protection that the normal paintball uniforms issued. They are double
layered thus giving you greater protection from flying paintballs and also help
to keep your clothes from getting too dirty. Mind you, we do get the occasional
'mad person' down who insists in rolling in the mud or diving into our 'lake'
- as the saying goes there's always one! Please
do arrive with a change of clothes to go home in, and please do wear a good pair
of ankle boots. Baggy trousers such as jogging bottoms are ideal to play in, and
a t-shirt. Our
paintball days start from 10am and we will play, providing the group wants to
continue, until dark which is usually 3pm'ish in Winter (dark nights) and 9pm
at the latest in the Summer. We do have evening events in the summer usually starting
in April - we start at 5pm and play for about 3 hours. The
Games of Paintball The idea of paintball, primarily, is to have
fun and a great day out - most games involve you being part of a team and your
team must obtain an objective such as capturing the flag, throwing a grenade into
the enemies base or even just eliminating the opposition. You
are only out of the game if you get hit and only if the paintballs splats on you
- hand and gun shots do not count. If it does not break and bounces off you are
still in the game - also, we don't allow headshots so if you do get in the head
it doesn't count and you can remain playing, but it is your option as you may
wish to retire as headshots can sting a little. Of
couse if you do get hit you can always wipe it off! Just don't get caught by the
other team, they may winge and moan! |
